Cami loves the Ancestor Summary Template and Training

WOW! I have thought about this product over the years but didn’t realize all that was behind what you see. Files explaining how to do it yourself. Videos guiding through the whole process. She has outdone herself in creating the Ancestor summary. Such an amazing tool to get to know ancestors better. Thanks for all your hard work!
A family history book is the culmination of years (and years) of research and writing. It’s your gift for future generations to learn about their ancestors, so you want it to be remarkable.

You have all your stories, photos and other content ready to use, but the pages are still frustratingly blank.

There is a LOT of advice on the internet on this topic, and most of it leaves you more confused.

  • Which program should you use?
  • What is the best page size for your project?
  • How do you get your book printed?
  • Does paper stock matter?
  • What is binding, and how do you choose one?
  • How do you organise the content, so it makes sense?

You wish you had the budget to hire a designer to do it for you…

Now picture the future where you feel confident and excited, proudly showing designed-by-you heritage books to your friends and family.

Because you now have the skills to:

  • Plan different layouts to organise and arrange content
  • Find design inspiration for new projects
  • Pick a software option that is right for you
  • Create unique templates to use again and again
  • Choose the best keepsake for the content you have

Unlock your inner design skills, even if you think you’re not creative.

Imagine Book

Gay was motivated by the Ancestral Stories workshop

I can’t tell you how much your workshop has motivated and inspired me. I feel like even if I don’t produce a book (but I do hope to!), using the writing guide is an excellent way to think about and organize your research.
Wouldn’t it be amazing if a designer gave you the exact steps to take to create custom family history books and heritage keepsakes?
I think so too, which is why I’ve created:
Bring Your Family History To Life
Step-by-step training to teach you the skills required to create custom family history books and heritage keepsakes.

What’s inside the programme

Amber saved hours with the All-In-One Genealogy Worksheet

This is brilliant. Thank you for making this available! I have been looking for a more sophisticated family group sheet. You have saved me hours and hours of time, and the efforts you’ve put into making it look pretty will make me proud to pass this record of my years of family history work on to my nieces.

Let’s get formally introduced

Hi, I’m Prudence, the Creative Family Historian.

Graphic designer. Family history enthusiast. Tim Tam connoisseur.

Using design to share stories is something I’ve been doing since I was a kid.

It started with telling Barbie’s story on little pieces of paper and evolved into creating a family newspaper when I was 11. When the genealogy bug bit, I immediately began a text-only heritage book to share all of my discoveries. My favourite part of learning new stories is sharing them.

I’ve been happily researching my family history since 1990 and working in graphic design-related jobs since the middle of that decade. Fast-forward to 2017, and I merged my two passions. I launched a blog and began selling family history templates online to help family-history enthusiasts like you share your ancestors’ stories too.

Design and family history together is my happy place.

Now it’s time to take my 25+ years of skill, know-how and experience to teach you how to create one-of-a-kind keepsakes that will have your family and friends amazed.

I can’t wait to see what you make.

Bring Your Family History to Life and You.

You can access the training modules, but the Q&A and feedback sessions are only available during the live course dates. You’ll get the most value from the course by working through the material during the term.

During training weeks, a good rule of thumb would be 1-2 hours per week dedicated to watching the lessons and another 2-3 hours putting them into action.

Your time commitment during doing weeks will depend on the page count of your project. The larger the project, the more time you will need. Allow 3-4 hours for every 20-25 pages.

Yes, you’ll need to have your ancestral stories already written, and know which ancestors’ you’ll be including in the book. If you need help writing the stories then check out the Ancestral Stories course.
